About NAWIRI

NAWIRI is a women's fashion brand made in Nairobi, Kenya. We design clothing for real bodies – versatile, well-made pieces that fit the way African women are actually shaped, and hold up across every occasion in a full life. Our name comes from the Swahili word nawiri, to flourish. That's what we're here for.

What we make

Each NAWIRI piece is designed with intention: clean lines, considered proportions, and fabrics chosen to last. From tailored trousers and wrap dresses to co-ord sets and easy tops, our collections move between the boardroom, the weekend, and everywhere in between — without asking you to change. We offer ready-to-wear, made-to-measure, and micro-customisation, because fit is not a luxury. It's the baseline.

How we make it

Our pieces are produced locally in small batches, by skilled Kenyan artisans, predominantly women. We pay fair wages, maintain safe working conditions, and take the time to get things right rather than fast. We're not a fully sustainable fashion brand. But we are committed to doing less harm: minimising fabric waste, repurposing off-cuts, and building pieces designed to be worn for years, not seasons.

Who we're for

NAWIRI is for the woman who knows what she wants and doesn't need fashion to shout on her behalf. She wants quality she can feel, fit she can trust, and clothes that were made with care, by people who were treated with care. That's the standard we hold ourselves to. Every piece, every time.

We are deeply honoured to share that NAWIRI has been named Inclusive Women’s Apparel Brand of the Year 2025 – East Africa.

This recognition affirms what has guided NAWIRI from the very beginning: there is no average woman, and fashion should never be designed around a single body type, height, or standard.

The fashion industry has long prioritised trends over people, inclusivity is often spoken about, but rarely practiced with intention.

At NAWIRI, inclusivity is not an afterthought. It is embedded in how we design, fit, and produce our pieces. From thoughtful pattern-making and adaptable silhouettes to listening closely during fittings, every collection is shaped by real women and real bodies.

This award recognises brands that are actively redefining women’s fashion in East Africa, brands that design with empathy, ethics, and purpose. To be acknowledged among them is both humbling and motivating.

Designing for Real Women

NAWIRI was created to serve women who have often felt overlooked by traditional sizing systems. Women who have struggled to find clothing that fits their bodies without compromise. Women who want to feel comfortable, confident, and seen.

Our collections are minimalist, versatile, and timeless, designed to move with you through everyday life. From tailored pants and wrap dresses to effortless tops and skirts, each piece is made to adapt to different body shapes, sizes, and heights without sacrificing style or comfort.

Built With Community at the Centre

This award belongs as much to our community as it does to us.

To every woman who has walked into a fitting, shared honest feedback, sent a DM about what worked, or didn’t, thank you. Your voices shape our designs and push us to do better with every iteration.

NAWIRI is built in conversation with the women we design for. That dialogue is what keeps our work grounded, relevant, and meaningful.

Looking Ahead

Being named Inclusive Women’s Apparel Brand of the Year is not a destination, it’s a responsibility.

As we move forward, we remain committed to:

  • Designing with intention and care
  • Championing size inclusivity beyond numbers
  • Upholding ethical and circular production practices
  • Creating clothing that respects and celebrates the diversity of African women

We are excited for what lies ahead and grateful to be building this journey alongside a community that believes in fashion that truly fits.

Thank you for being part of the NAWIRI story.
